GTS Green Technology Solutions GmbH produces and sells filtration systems for drinking water installations, thus ensuring the hygiene and safety of the water. GTS tracks all important parameters via remote monitoring. This allows the company to intervene immediately if, contrary to expectations, irregularities are detected. Carsten Wermter, Managing Director of GTS, relies on mobile communications and the M2M SIMs from wherever SIM for data transmission.
"Our filtration systems are installed at a wide variety of locations. This can theoretically be anywhere, which is why it was important for us to find a solution that reliably covers as many mobile networks as possible," says Wermter, explaining the original problem. "And that's exactly what we found with wherever SIM . We never know in advance which local provider offers the strongest network. Instead of using several SIM cards from different network providers, we now have one SIM for all networks. That makes a lot of things easier." Thanks to wherever SIM , the modem can always dial into the strongest network on site and switches automatically if a stronger network is detected than the one currently logged in. Wermter has not recorded any connection interruptions since using the wherever SIM .
However, the M2M SIM cards are not only used for data transmission from the device to the system, they also enable communication with the end device. "Each device receives a static IP address within a private network via its M2M SIM so that we can access it via VPN. The SIM cards are configured in such a way that only our servers can access the transmitted data or the end device." The bidirectional communication is particularly helpful when it comes to configuring the filtration systems. Changes can be easily transferred to the systems via the online portal, while the effects of program changes on data consumption can be tracked live in the online portal. If necessary, the GTS team can intervene immediately and make optimizations.
